DescriptionComplex molding plane with flat chamfers which end with a turn-out, and a molded shoulder.Label TextBrothers George and Jonathan Lake originally hailed from Topsfield, Massachusetts and served in the American Revolutionary War. Receiving land grants for their service in the Vermont Militia, they relocated to their earned bounties near Rutland, Vermont. By 1800, George was in Woodstock, Vermont while Jonathan was in Chester and Springfield, Vermont.Mark(s)J.LAKE in relief within a serrated rectangle, struck into the toe (Elliott, GAWP 5th ed., p.220).ProvenanceOctober 1994, purchased by Thomas Elliott (Westbrook, CT); 2024, given to The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Williamsburg, VA)
