DescriptionGeometric design carpet of ghiordes knots; about 56 knots per sq. inch; 3 shots red wool after row of knots. colors: Ground: field-red (madder), main border-white, inner and outer borders-blue, central design-white. Pattern: red, green, light blue, dark blue, brown, white. The center octagonal design, the largest of 3 vertically aligned in the field, features stylized tulips and geometric devices prominently displaying the hook motif. The two smaller octagons have hook devices forming the pattern; an inner serrated edge, and all 3 octagons are outlined with a border of hook design. The balance of the field shows rectangles enclosing various geometric design. The balance of the field shows rectangles enclosing various geometric designs. Small rosettes and vase-like forms at the 4 corners. All border stripes bear angular devices, leaves, triangles, diamonds and in the main border, a reciprocal arrangement of star and comb; both symbols common to Turkish and Caucasian rugs.
