DescriptionCarpet: Ghiordes knot: 56 knots per sq. inch; two shots of weft after each row of knots. Colors: ground; field-deep red, main border- green (rare), secondary borders-white; pattern: rich deep blue, gold, moss green, white, red. The field shows a series of large geometric palmettes in progression, all of which have fundamentally the same outline and scale. Interspersed throughout the field will be found small detached rosettes, floral shrubs and other devices. Colors are exceptionally rich in hue. The main border with deep moss green ground (which is a rare thing) has octagonal medallions alternating with smaller octagonal medallions from which spring voluted leaves and floral buds. The border also contains interspersed small detached rosettes of variou s sizes and shapes. Secondary borders consist of simple meanders.Descriptive information by Joseph McMullan, 1954.
