Descriptionbowl and coverLabel TextThis bowl is an uncommonly large example of its type. The retention of its original cover is an extremely rare feature. The cover is unusually shaped with its bezel having a curved profile that conforms to the outline of the body just below the rim. An uncovered bowl of similar form and size bears the mark of John Langford I of London. It continues to serve in baptisms at the Parish Church of St. Mary, Martlesham, Suffolk, England.Inscription(s)NoneMark(s)Touch mark "H·J" within a rectangle on underside of base (Cotterell 5747A). Secondary quality mark "X' with crown above on underside of base below touch mark. Cover unmarked. ProvenanceCollection label of Frederick Jaeger (d. 1966) of Dorking, Surrey. Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Price Glover III, New York City.
