DescriptionNeedlework carpet: Colors: field- ground: pale yellow green; pattern: reds, blues, greens, golds, ivory, dark brown, salmon, coral, russets. Border-ground: faded brick red; pattern: sam as field. Worked in English wools in cross stitch on natural linen canvas. Field has large central medallion filled with naturalistic array of flowers, stems, and leaves; similar flowers fill corner sections. Wide floral border is enclosed by narrow stripe guard bands; faced with natural linen.Construction History

Whether produced domestically or professionally, needlework rugs of this era embraced the forms of the natural world.
