DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain teapot molded to resemble a Guinea fowl entangled in a flowering rose bush. The open beak forms the spout. It was separately molded then attached to the body. The molded handle resembles a branch from a rose bush. The upper terminal attaches to the back of the Guinea fowl and the lower terminal attaches to the left side of the body. The lower third of the handle is decorated with molded leaves. The body of the teapot sits on a rocky base with a foot on either side, molded in relief. The molded lid has decoration in relief of small rosebuds. No color has been applied.Label TextThe body of this teapot was molding the shape of a guinea fowl entangled in a flowering rosebush, its open beak forming the spout. The handle is two looped branches with applied leaves and flowers. The rocky base was molded separately.

The only other published example of the form is in the collections of the British Museum.
