DescriptionCream Jug: Molded, soft-paste porcelain cream jug with decoration in relief. The pear shaped jug rests on two goats, lying in opposite directions. Both goats have short horns. On the front of the jug, there is a branch of flowers and leaves in relief. A honey bee rests on top of the branch of flowers. The bee was molded separately and then applied so that the body of the bee is not fully attached to the jug. The handle is molded to resemble a branch. Several leaves were applied to the handle. No color has been applied.Label TextMolded figures of recumbent goats support the baluster-shaped body of the jug. A small bee is applied on the molded flower beneath the lip. Sprimont may have made a silver jug of this shape in the 1740s. A large centerpiece he made in 1747/48 for the Earl of Ashburnham is a basket supported by two standing goats.
