DescriptionRectangular trunk with arched lid. Tulip poplar covered with cowhide with hair on. Two double rows of decorative leather strips with brass tacks divide width of trunk into thirds. Leather apron around edge of lid (mostly missing). Iron bracket for carrying handles at each end. Rectangular iron lock and portion of hasp on front, center of trunk. Lined with blue paper (mostly missing); replaced textile tapes nailed at either end to inside of lid and case, with remants of original tape remaining on proper left end. Three sets of iron hinges added across rear to hinge lid to case, reinforcing earlier leather strap hinges.1807-1815
