DescriptionThis navy and cream wool double cloth coverlet fragment bears a repeated oak leaf pattern over small scale diaper and sprig patterned ground. The coverlet is made of two panels sewn together at the selvedges. All edges have been cut and the corners clipped and left raw.Label TextThis coverlet fragment has an unusual pattern of scattered leaves. Every edge has been cut, which might indicate that the coverlet originally had a different patterned border. The double cloth technique creates a woven pattern and also a warmer covering.Mark(s)No marks or inscriptionsProvenanceThis piece has been in the AARFAC collection for many years but was never accessioned.
