DescriptionBottle case; rectangular case of nailed construction with hinged lid attached with small iron strap hinges on interior; painted green (verdigris) on exterior; iron bail handles attached to sides with iron cotter pins; keyhole in top center of front board with iron lock mortised into rear of front at top; interior has slots for dividers (now missing) that extend about two thirds up the sides; interior would have had partitions for 12 bottles.Inscription(s)Incised marks (through paint) on front of case: "45" or "4S" at top proper right corner of front board. Conjoined "HI" or "HV" on top proper left corner of front board.
Three incised marks on top of case reverse "CCC" with long straight lines from tops of Cs (or half circles - marks made with a centerpoint bit).
