DescriptionNearly cylindrical trunk with flat bottom; hinged, domed lid; all parts but bottom covered with original deerskin; rectangular iron lockplate on front of trunk; iron hasp on front of lid; iron ring handles on either end; trunk outlined with dark leather held on with tacks; pair of leather strap supports on front (1 missing); interior lined with uncut pages from Samuel Bourn's second edition of A SERIES OF DISCOURSES BY SAMUEL BOURN IN FOUR VOLUMES. VOLUME I. ON THE PRINCIPLES AND EVIDENCES OF NATURAL RELIGION AND THE CHRISTIAN REVELATION (London, 1768, pp. 132, 141, and 343) overprinted with a black floral pattern, covered over with blue paper.
