DescriptionSauce tureen with cover decorated in the "Duke of Gloucester" pattern. Ovoid bombe body with ogee shaped rim and two scallop-shell molded handles. Domes ovoid lid with cut-out for ladle at one long end, and fully modeled bud and leaf finial on top. Body and lid are divided into four sections by blue and gilt cartouches, each enclosing an enameled bug, butterfly, or, on the body, handle. In between each cartouche are clusters of fruits and leaves. The enamel colors include blue, greens, reds, pink, purple, and yellow.Mark(s)Gold crescent mark on underside.ProvenanceRobert R.
