DescriptionMan's hat of black silk velvet with long pile, cocked up on three sides and edged with grosgrain ribbon. Inner leather hatband and heavily sized tabby cotton crown lining. Crown low and rounded.

Label TextThis hat was in the collection of Frank Moss Bennett (1874-1952), an English history painter who owned a collection of antique and reproduction costumes to use as props. This costume, along with thirty-one others, was purchased by Colonial Williamsburg from Bennett's daughter upon his death.
