DescriptionMan's cocked hat of black velvet or plush, cocked up sharply on three sides and trimmed with large ribbon cockade over right eye. Crown flattened at top. Lined with leather sweat band, cotton, and paper, impressed with "Bent & Bush" in Gothic-style letters & framework.Label TextBent & Bush were hatmakers located in Boston, Massachusetts. They show up in the 1865 Boston City Directory as suppliers of hats, caps, and furs; Court, corner Washington. Bent & Bush also appear at 15 School St., Boston, in an April 24, 1907 Boston newspaper advertisement.Mark(s)Bent & Bush
