DescriptionPlate: circular plate with broad rim painted in Imari colors of underglaze blue, iron red, and gold. The center decorated with the arms of Pynsent quartering Jennings with a baronet’s badge. The rim painted with a blue and gold border of prunus branches and peony blossoms. The underside with the signature of a china burner bearing the last name Swan.Inscription(s)The underside with the signature of a china burner bearing the last name Swan.ProvenanceOrdered between 1740-1745 by Sir William Pynsent, Baronet, of Somerset, England. With Angela Howard until October 2025 when she sold it to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Williamsburg, Virginia) where it remains to the present.
