DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain jug with a cylindrical neck, triangular pouring lip, and bellied body with trimmed foot. There is molded decoration in low relief of vines and flowers on the neck and belly of the jug. On the belly of the jug, there is an underglaze, cobalt blue, hand-painted scene of a small building with a bridge set in a landscape. There are two boats in the background. There are two underglaze, cobalt blue scenes on either side of the neck. At the rim and on the pouring lip, there is a band of cobalt blue decoration of scrolls and flowers. The foot is decorated with small branches painted with cobalt blue. Much of the decoration resembles Chinese export porcelain. The blue glaze ran downward during the firing process, blurring the scenes. There is a scrolled handle which is highlighted with cobalt blue decoration.Mark(s)Blue smudge on inside of foot ring.
