DescriptionMolded, soft-paste porcelain sauceboat with lobed rim, resembling a silver-shape. The sauceboat is raised on three lion mask and paw feet. The body has molded decoration in relief on the exterior with a cartouche on either side denoted by scrolls. Surrounding the cartouches is a raised diamond-diaper. Inside the cartouches there are underglaze cobalt blue scenes of Chinamen in landscapes. At the rim there is raised scrollwork highlighted with cobalt blue that terminates under the spout in human heads. The scrollwork, shells, human heads and lion heads are highlighted with cobalt blue. Inside the sauceboat there is an additional scene of a Chinaman with a dog hunting a stag. Along the interior rim there is a painted band of flowers and shells. The handle is molded with scrolls.
