DescriptionBlock mold: thickly potted hollow block mold for the body of a pecten shell-shaped teapot; the base flat with a central hole; the top of the mold with a stepped mouth. The shell on each of the two sides with a smaller shell applied to the upper shoulder. A central hole in the flat based mold.ProvenanceIn 1914 with Charles F. C. Luxmoore. In 1986 with Art Trading Ltd. (New York, NY) who sold it to private collectors in Atlanta, GA. Subsequently sold by Brunk Auctions (Asheville, NC) in 2025 when it was purchased by Robert Hunter (Yorktown, VA). In 2025, Robert Hunter sold it to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Williamsburg, VA) where it remains to the present.
