DescriptionTeapot: white lozenge-shaped slip cast body supported on three lion paw feet; rolled earshaped handle with slightly curled lower terminal opposite spout molded with a simple tube extending from molded base with key pattern and ribbing; each square side of the body molded with identical patterns of central pecten shell framed with double bands of a greek key pattern separated by narrow S-scroll bands; the bottom of body has a narrow angled greek key band which tapers at 45 degrees towards the flat bottom of the belly; the shoulder angles similarly and also has a greek key band below a narrow S-scroll band. The body rises to a slightly domed lozenge-shaped lid molded with a plain band and two greek key bands; a waisted spool finial at the center. Decorated with thick blue blotches allover the body and along the outer key pattern band on the lid and one splotch on the finial.ProvenanceBought by Mr. and Mrs. Macy as a gift to Colonial Williamsburg from Ginsburg and Levy, 815 Madison Avenue, New York, NY.
