DescriptionTeapot: creamware teapot of globular shape with a band of diaper around the circumference of the body; a beaded band at the foot of the teapot and around the opening for the lid; the molded crabstock spout opposite the ear-shaped twisted handle with a pinched lower terminal kick. The spout grate pierced with seven holes. The conforming lid bordered by a beaded band and a molded leafy flower knop attached to the center; a single pierced steam hole. The diaper midband is gilt. Each side painted with a red and black feathered cartouche, one cartouche painted with: “No / Cyder / Act.” and the other with: “Apples / at / Liberty.”Inscription(s)Each side painted with a red and black feathered cartouche, one cartouche with: “No / Cyder / Act.” and the other with: “Apples / at / Liberty.”ProvenanceIn 2013, with Bonham's Auctioneers (Oxford, England) where it was sold to a private indiividual. In 2024, acquired by Martyn Edgell (Peterborough, England) with whom it remained until he sold it to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Williamsburg, Virginia) in 2025 where it remains to the present.
