DescriptionThrown, soft-paste porcelain coffeepot with cylindrical foot; applied, plain spout; and molded, scroll handle. The pot is decorated with two black transfer-printed scenes. On one side, there is a scene with two bridges. Two people have just crossed the bridge in the foreground. There is also a monument to Neptune on the left, and there are more ruins and ships in the background. On the other side, there are two figures holding long staffs. They are positioned next to a Corinthian colonnade in ruins. There are more ruins in the background. The spout is decorated on the top and underside with black, transfer-printed strap work, reminiscent of the Mannerist and Baroque styles. The domed lid has a line of black on the rim and three small transfer-printed decorations of classical ruins, spaced evenly. The first is a tempietto with a statue at the center. It is missing its roof. The second is a piece of a Corinthian colonnade. The third depicts a two story archway. The lid has a tear drop shaped knop. Inscription(s)NoMark(s)NoProvenanceEx.
