DescriptionThrown, soft-paste porcelain coffeepot with cylindrical footring, ribbed spout with a scalloped terminal and an applied, twisted handle. There is a painted transfer-print on either side of the body of the coffeepot. On one side, there is a Corinthian colonnade in ruins on a platform. There is a man in purple robes in the foreground and a large vase with relief decoration. The other side has an ionic colonnade in ruins with a statue. A male figure in blue robes stands in the foreground. There is a lion’s head fountain to the left and a church in the background. The spout is decorated on the top and underside with transfer-printed strap work, reminiscent of the Mannerist and Baroque styles. The domed lid has a line of gilding on the rim and two painted transfer-printed scenes of classical ruins. The knop is a molded flower, painted pink. The handle has Rococo style, feathered terminals that are highlighted with pink enamel.
