DescriptionPewter bleeding bowl: Shallow circular bowl of squat proportions with moulded rim and straight tapered sides rounded at bottom to flat base; flat openwork handle soldered to and horizontal with rim. Interior sides of bowl incised with seven concentric rings numbered 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 (the latter at the rim of the bowl).Mark(s)Marked on top of handle with a stag's head facing left with a crown between his antlers framed by *JOHN* above and *WILLIAMS* below in block letters within curved reserves connected by scrolls issuing from lower reserve on face of handle (Cotterell, no. 5178)ProvenanceVendor: Mr. Sydney N.
