DescriptionA pair of old Sheffield plate flute and foliate decorated candlesticks on rising circular bases decorated with acanthus leaves; stems decorated with stamped scrolls and drapery swags and applied with oval bust portraits, each a foliate and panel stamped elongated campana-shaped socket and detachable bead and flute decorated circular nozzle.Label TextMatthew Boulton, in partnership with John Fothergill, established the Soho Manufactury in Birmingham, producing jewelry, silver, fused silverplate, and decorative metalware on an unprecedented scale using modern technologies like steam-driven machinery. The design for this fused silverplate candlestick survives in the firm’s pattern books.
