DescriptionTeapot: bulbous body with molded gadroon border or chain of conjoined elongated ovals at the high shoulder just under the opening for the lid and a the foot; molded modified leafy s-scroll handle opposite curved spout molded with a leaf pattern; the spout with an eight-hole grate; the conforming lid is topped by a mushroom-shaped knop pierced with a central steam hole. The body of the teapot painted on opposite sides with a red and black framed circular reserve, one containing a red and yellow sun with a human face and the other with a crescent moon with a face amidst stars and wispy clouds; painted red and black flower sprigs flank the spout and the handle; the lid is painted in red and black with a crescent moon and clusters of stars scattered throughout.Inscription(s)NoneMark(s)NoneProvenanceWith Martyn Edgell Antiques, Ltd.
