DescriptionPunch Bowl: foot ring supports deep bowl; decorated in underglaze blue, iron red, green, and gold; the exterior painted with 12 panels: six with glue ground enclosing cruciform lobed reserves painted with flowers and alternating with six other panels with grounds of red scrolls interrupted by central leafy flowers; the rim with an iron wash; the interior of the bowl painted with a red diaper and blue flower border between a single underglaze blue line and double underglaze blue lines and evenly interrupted by four reserves containing flower sprigs; flower sprigs radiating downward from the border into the bowl; the center of the bowl painted with a large peony sprig; traces of gilding on the interior and exterior.ProvenanceDescended in the Tucker families of New York and Bermuda. Passed down to Catharine Fitch Tucker [February 28, 1879-August 22, 1970] of Paget, Bermuda, who gifted the piece to her nephew, Edward Bolton (Teddy) Tucker, MBE [May 8, 1929-June 9, 2014]; it then descended to his daughter Wendy Susan Tucker who subsequently gifted it to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 2024.
