DescriptionBaluster-shaped body with everted rim with molded edge; cast double-scroll handle with leaf grip and scroll terminal; broad circular splayed base with molded face and edge. Uninscribed as to owner.Label TextA pair of similar mugs of 1753/54 by Richard Gurney and Thomas Cooke of London, engraved with the arms and motto of the Byrd family of Westover Plantation, Charles City County, Virginia, was sold by Maria Byrd in 1788 along with six other pieces of family silver to John Brown of Providence, Rhode Island. They are privately owned.
