DescriptionWoman's quilted bonnet or hood of finely ribbed black silk lined and trimmed with rose-pink thin silk. The quilted pink cuff turns back to frame the wearer's face. The bonnet brim and lining are hand-quilted in simple diamond pattern and padded with cotton batting. The crown portion is shaped by ties in three vertical channels, terminating with black ribbon bows at the top of the head. Two-inch wide pink ties.Label TextThe vertical channels are visually related to women's calashes, or collapsible bonnets. This example does not collapse, however, and is more properly called a hood or bonnet.ProvenanceEx. Coll.: Doris Langley Moore.
