DescriptionShallow plate with narrow rim and no foot ring. White tin glaze decorated in blue with a song-bird perched on a central peony spray, the ground scattered with dots and cruciform leaf clusters; on the rim, a chinoiserie band of scrolls. The initials "EW" and the date "1701" painted on the face amidst the dot and leaf cluster ground.Label TextA fragment of a plate painted with a different bird but with similar ground decoration was excavated in Williamsburg, Virginia at the site of the Blair Stables (29HA.0218).
