DescriptionHard-paste porcelain square-shaped dish, the edge of which is highlighted in gilt. The dish is decorated overall with small sprigs of blue, green and gilt cornflowers flowers. This pattern is commonly known as "Chantilly Sprig."Label TextThomas Jefferson, among many others, did much to popularize French decorative arts in America after the Revolution. Porcelain factories including The Queen's Factory, established in 1776 by Andre Marie Leboeuf, found a market in our newly independent nation. This pattern, known as "Chantilly Sprig" was popular in post-Revolutionary America and was owned by many including Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.Mark(s)Marked on the back with an iron red stenciled capital letter "A"ProvenanceGift of Mr. & Mrs. Charles W.
