DescriptionDeep circular pewter dish with a single reed rimLabel TextIn 1814 Samuel Kilbourn left the oversaturated community of pewterers in his native Connecticut. He moved with his family to Baltimore, where he plied his trade as a pewterer and tinplate manufacturer until his retirement in 1836. The rise in consumerism in the early 19th century created a demand for more goods, thereby providing opportunities for skilled tradesmen.
