DescriptionTall pewter beaker, probably a church cut, of flared cylindrical form over a molded base.Label TextBeakers are among the most popular hollowware forms in American pewter. They were made in several sizes with considerable variation in proportions and details. Although a few stand taller than six inches, the standard tall beaker became fixed at about five-and-a-quarter inches in height. Thought to have been first fashioned in this size by Robert Bonynge or Jonathan Jackson of Boston, they soon became a customary production of several generations of the Danforth and Boardman families.Inscription(s)NoneMark(s)Touch mark an American eagle displayed with rays and stars above, striped shield superimposed on body, and a cluster of arrows and olive branch in talons with "S" to the left and no visible letter to the right within a vertical iovals on underside of base (Laughlin 402).
