DescriptionTankard, quart. Double domed lid with scroll thumb-piece. Tapered drum with everted and moulded lip with medium baud. Moulded foot. Hollow scroll handle with bud terminal.Label TextThis tankard and CWF accessions 1954-940 and 1954-942 are standard examples from the second quarter of the eighteenth century. Their scrolled handles are fitted with chair-back thumb pieces and ball terminals. They are the work of one of the principal London makers of those years, William Eddon or Eden. A specialist in hollowware, he produced many fine tankards and other drinking vessels over a long and productive career.
