DescriptionA brilliant, almost aquamarine blue dominates the lake and some sections of the mountains in this picture. On closer examination, one discovers that Kozlowski's initial painting of the mountains was totally in this same vivid color. Later, perhaps after reflection and the realization that the effect did not capture the atmospheric quality of the place as Kozlowski either conceived it or observed it in some source, he painted out the aquamarine with shades of violet and paler blues. Streaks and dashes of white paint were then added to simulate snow.
