DescriptionAppearance: Banister back arm chair; originally stained or painted black; plain arched crest rail; baluster turned stiles terminating in elongated finials; four molded banisters, plain banister rail with chamfered edges; arms terminating with pierced downward-scrolled volutes, top of arms molded with an ogee; rush seat; four tacking rails just below seat (not original); decoratively turned front legs extend above seat rails to support arms; front two stretchers decoratively turned, plain shaved side and rear stretchers.

Construction: All maple construction except where noted; crest rail tenoned to stiles, joints set with wood pins; banisters (ash, second from left oak) tenoned into crest rail and banister rail; banister rail mortised into stiles and pinned; arms tenoned pinned into stiles and mortised and pinned to arm supports; front legs; seat rails round-tenoned to legs; modern tacking rails (pine) nailed in place, stretchers round-tenoned to legs.
