DescriptionChild's Windsor armchair, painted black with bamboo style turnings. Crest rail, seat, and bamboo turnings outlined in gold. Rounded stiles with rectangular crest rail between them, four tapered, rounded banisters tenoned into crest and seat, rounded arms taper towards stiles and are supported by one tapered rounded arm support each, square plank seat with rounded corners, rounded legs with bamboo style turnings, rounded front, side, and rear stretchers.ProvenanceSaid by donor (a descendant of William Howard Smith, portrait subject of AARFAC's 41.100.8 ) to have been used by William Howard Smith ( 1832-1911) and his sister Mary Jane Smith (18 36-1854, subject of AARFAC's portrait 41.100. 9).
