DescriptionSteep-side bowl with cylindrical foot ring; wide sloping rim has two holes, one round depression, and a large cutout arc. Blue tin glaze decorated in blue with a variety of detailed barber's implements, including a looking glass and bottles.Label TextThe unusual shade of the blue ground and the double comb ornamentation suggest a late seventeenth-century date of manufacture. Other basins with the same proportions and upturned rims with similarly painted instruments on a white ground date into the eighteenth century, however, and appear to be of London manufacture.Inscription(s)NoMark(s)NoProvenanceOtto M.
