DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain, basket-shaped bowl with tapering sides and a flared foot. The molding in relief on the exterior simulates the reeds and twine of a basket. The bowl has a scalloped rim and the molded basket motif appears on the interior and exterior. The remainder of the interior is smooth and has overglaze, painted decoration in the Kakiemon style. On the left is a red dragon with gilt scales twisting around a bamboo branch above prunus blossoms. On the right is a red tiger facing the dragon.Label TextThese baskets are decorated in a Kakiemon pattern used at Meissen, many of whose elements were popular at Chelsea from the triangle to the red anchor period.
