DescriptionSteep-sided bowl, slightly flared high-standing footing, very white and with high gloss, thinly potted. Exterior exhibits chinoiserie (almost Persian) treatment, rim bordered by band of scrollwork and regular pendant floral sprays, central area filled with alternate vertical and horizontal floral sprays, base painted as calyx with predominant color of each leaf alternately green and red. In "V" formed between leaves are alternate flowering branches and wild fowl. "Empty" spaces filled with flying birds and insects. All in cobalt, mixed green and iron red. Footing banded with Chinese scroll work and striping all in blue. Interior decorated in blue with stylized floral motifs ringing the side and, in the bottom an oriental figure holding a leafed branch with a goblet resting on a (stump?) before him.
