DescriptionBowlLabel TextEven though small, banded bowls of this type are often called broth bowls, they were undoubtedly put to many uses. Ronald F. Homer illustrates a similar example from the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, which presumably is one of the "24 half-pint butter basins" supplied by Samuel Ellis I of London to the Company in 1735.
