DescriptionLooking glass: arched, scroll-cut cresting centering intaglio, gilded shell. Ogee and bead molded rectangular frame with gilded gesso spandrel in repeated leaf pattern, the top shaped in curves. Original double plates with edges beveled to conform to shaping of frame.Mark(s)Paper label affixed to back reads: "Susan V [or &] Johny (Jenny)/ 18[9 or 7]8" More recent gummed sticker reads: "HMLX/ Trumbull family". Old ink inscription, partly readable beneath remnants of old paper label at top of back.ProvenanceFormerly in the Trumbull and Cogswell families of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
