DescriptionGreat coat of taupe colored heavy wool broadcloth. Fitted, double-breasted coat has high turned down collar, attached 17" shoulder cape, and long full skirts. Seam at waist. Buttonholes for 6 replaced buttons on each side of front. Shaped sleeves with 3 1/2-inch cuffs of same material. Wool cloth is woven in tabby weave, fulled and with nap shorn close. Wool edges are left unfinished. Pocket in back of each skirt. Unlined.

Construction History:

1. 1835-1850: Initial Construction
2. February 13, 1958: Cleaning, checking, restoring. Dry cleaned with restoration where necessary, all sewing checked. Buttons changed. Work by Ernest LoNano.
