DescriptionTwo-handled Jug: Ovoid body rises to short neck; two extruded strap handles applied vertically to high shoulder, flanking the neck; carved decoration depicting a farm scene with a landscape interrupted by a road, mailbox, fenced field with wagon and barrels and buckets, a sheep, and a barn in the background amid rolling hills and a tree-lined horizon.Label TextUnlike many contemporary potters, the Crockers of Georgia work only with local clays and handmade glazes. These traditional practices link them directly to the history of Georgia folk pottery. Melvin and his brother Michael often worked closely together creating face jugs, pitchers, and jugs until 1999 when Melvin left to start his own shop. This carved jug, produced solely by Melvin, showcases his distinctive style which he continued after branching out on his own.Inscription(s)Signed in script "Melvin S Crocker at the foot and "Melvin S.
