DescriptionPortrait medallion: dry-bodied stoneware (jasperware) solid blue oval medallion with a white molded and scuptured bas-relief image of Pierre Gassendi facing right. Gassendi was a leading astronomer, mathematician, and philosopher. Marked with the impressed mark WEDGWOOD & BENTLEY.
