DescriptionOval drop-leaf dining table; oval table with two drop leaves, hinged with rule joints and iron hinges; four cabriole legs with ogee knee blocks and paneled trifid feet; straight skirts on sides with two swing legs at opposite ends with molding overlapping end of table when closed; end skirts with high ogee shaped arch.Label TextWhile dining tables are ubiquitous, those with family histories are relatively rare. This oval dining table descended in the Thomas family of Chester County, Pennsylvania. While the exact line of descent is not known, almost all of the donors ancestors lived in Chester, Lancaster, and Delaware counties. The table displays details consistent with Delaware Valley dining tables of the mid-18th century including the trifid foot and highly arched skirt.ProvenanceDescended in the Thomas family of Chester County, Pennsylvania to donor.1725-1750
