DescriptionA brocaded silk and silver waistcoat with floral sprays and metallic sprigs. The waistcoat has a rounded collar with two functioning pocket flaps. It is faced on the interior with the same silk fabric. The back and front is lined with linen. The back is cut in one with no center back seam. There is a small piece of the selvage in the lower right edge (appears to be a single blue stripe). The garment is interfaced in an off white/cream colored linen to support the collar and center front. The buttons are covered in matching silk over bone molds and the back of the waistcoat has two linen ties. Construction History
Initial Construction: ca. 1820
Alterations: Sometime post initial construction a tuck was taken horizontally across the back neck of the vest. It is stitched in heavy cotton thread.Inscription(s)A twill tape tag attached at the next read "Dennis"
