DescriptionLarge crock with molded handles on each side. Blue underglaze decoration of eagle with banner. Stamped above eagle with maker's name and symbol. Albany slip interior.Label TextMoralizing stoneware decorators often combined a sort of "kitchen philosophy" with a record of current affairs. The American eagle and pendant banner continued to be popular throughout the nineteenth century.
