DescriptionJug: jug of squat, bulbous form rising to a tall collar; molded spout opposite handle ornamented with 3-dimensional acanthus leaves. Decorated with wood-working tools on one side and a pastoral scene on the other. Lines of gilding run aournd the rim, shoulder, foot and on either side of the handle. Beneath the spout is the inscription, "Petter and Hannah / Humphries / 1816".Label TextLikely a commemorative piece, the pitcher is decorated with a quasi-armorial depiction of woodworking tools on one side and bears the inscription "Petter & Hannah / Humphries / 1816".
