DescriptionFlat-topped, double-stepped cover with broad encircling flange with crenate lip opposite handle; scrolled thumbpiece soldered to cover and to upper hinge plate; flat hinge with face of lower hinge plate molded and edge scalloped; conventional wrought tankard handle of S-shaped outline and D-shaped section with a plain shield or boot-heel terminal; tapered cylindrical body with molding at rim and more complex series of moldings at base. Owners' initials “*N* / W*H" in block letters engraved on face of handle and "W*A" in block letters engraved on underside of base. Engraved crest of a right arm with armor bent at elbow upholding a spear on a wreath bar on face of body opposite handle.
