DescriptionSpoon tray: waisted flat oblong tray with shaped edges and applied modified "Chippendale" rim. DEG engraved on base.Label TextSmall oval and oblong trays in silver for holding teaspoons, dating mainly from the first half of the eighteenth century, form part of the considerable equipage used in serving tea. The covers of sugar bowls fitted with reel tops were perhaps also inverted for this purpose (see accessions 1954-566 and 1965-97).
